Asus is well known for its flagship phones, best Gaming PCs but they are now stepping into the budget smartphone market with their new device, which we will review today. So, check out Asus Zenfone Max Pro Review.
They also launch some budget phones in the past, but they were not well received, as there was a reason behind it. As, the device with the Midrange Specs, was not priced according to the budget devices, and with the budget devices, the specs were not that good.
But this time they got it all right and, that gave us a pretty solid contender for the budget segment.
Let run through the specs quickly

So, let’s talk about the phone now these were the figures, let talk actual usage.
The design of the smartphone is good, but it’s plastic at the top an bottom, which feels weird with a metal back.
The best thing about the design is, that they packed a 5,000mAh battery in such a slim body, also, they don’t have a camera bump, like the other competitors.
Now its obvious that the 4GB and 6GB RAM Varients will perform a lot better than 3GB. But Still, we didn’t notice any major lag anywhere in the smartphone, with the usage (Multitasking) or with the Games.
This phone can survive heavy games easily. Also its 45 degrees outside, but still Zenfone Max Pro managed to keep his cool even while Gaming, which is good.
For those who didn’t understand that above reference, they used Stock Snapdragon Camera which cannot do stuff that the Zenfone Max Pro’s Camera is capable of.
The Camera UI is basic, it feels like closing the camera when you open it. So you have to install a 3rd Party app to get some good out of the Camera.
The Camera Quality is great, the shots taken are well focused, and the portrait mode is better than some other phones in the same price range.
The Low Light Photography is a challenge with this smartphone, if you are shooting handheld, you have to be careful, as if you moved a bit the photo will be ruined, as there is no OIS or EIS present.
Even if you manage to stay still and get a shot, it still gets some noise, but it’s normal for a device with this price.
Though the battery is good, I noticed a strange behavior when I was not using it and testing another device.
This is a screenshot of the in this you can see that the screen on time is just around 1hour and the phone lasted around 1 Day when on total standby. Though when I was using it (Intensively) it easily runs the whole day, and still by the end of the day I had some juice left.
But this was strange, I hope its something Asus can look into.
This smartphone is a total bang for the buck. The best part is its battery and stock Android…Maybe it will the first Asus device ever to get Android Updates fast and over a long period of time.
If you are considering to buy it, you should go for the 4GB or 6GB variant, as they somewhat are future ready, as the games and software require more power, and they may require even more in future, so you should be ready for that.
If Asus Updates the Camera App, this phone is the best thing to buy (that is what I think).
