A Milestone in Hindi cinema
Lipstick Under My Burkha is a milestone not only because how boldly it raises the issue of feminism but also because the way the makers have fought with CBFC to save their original, unedited content to the world. Prakash Jha produced this film sends a very strong message out to the people who still think that the women are the weaker sex of the society.
In a recent interview to PTI, Ekta Kapoor the distributor of this film said “I have no issue with CBFC. My problem is with the entire society, which talks about the same thing but in its own way. So, CBFC is actually mirroring the society. We will trivialize this issue if we make it about CBFC. It’s a larger issue”.
