This time Asus showed us what they are really capable of, with slashing their prices down and upgrading the quality, the raised the bar quite high. How? We will talk about that in this Asus Zenfone 5Z Review.
With almost similar specs as the latest flagships like Oneplus 6, Galaxy Note 9, Vivo nex etc, Asus Zenfone 5z has the best price to performance ratio, though this place has been taken by Pocofone F1 lately, still,l there are many areas where Zenfone 5z shines.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Review: Design
The design of this phone is the same as their previous flagships design, the glossy back. And the phone is nicely built, feels premium, edges are nicely curved to suit the hands, overall build quality is quite nice.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Review: Display
It has a 6.2 inch Super IPS+ Full HD Display and its sharp viewing angles are nice, colors are accurate. Touch is responsive. Also, the notch in this thing is not that much problematic, you will not notice it, until you watch a youtube video or play a video game at full-screen mode.
Talking about video games, 1 thing I noticed is as this device has small Bezels, our hand touches the screen a bit, when playing a game, and it sometimes register as a touch, so I suggest Asus, to release a fix about that if they can, it will really help.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Review: Camera
Personally, I loved the camera in Zenfone 5Z, after using 5Z, I don’t like my camera on Oneplus 5, the auto HDR works great, the bokeh mode is accurate. Also, you can adjust the blur, at the max settings it looks kind of fake, but I suggest you to keep it around 50%-70% for best results.
The EIS also works great, you can get some pretty stable shots if you move slow.
Sharpness and clarity are also very good in this camera. Its a beast for the camera.
The front camera on the Zenfone 5Z is not that good, it can take some good pictures in optimal lightning, but in normal conditions the photos are noisy.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Review: Performance
As you know that this phone has Snapdragon 845 Processor, so speed would not be an issue for this device, though the ZenUI it runs handles it quite well, sometimes you may see some lags or freezes, but that’s just software, it can be fixed via OTA.
Heating issues are not there as such, though the phone gets a little warm with around 30-40 mins of gaming, which is normal. It does not overheat.
The overall performance of this phone is good, you will not see any major issues.
Also, in the recent update, it got a new feature to wake your phone when you pick it up and it automatically unlocks it, if you have your face setup, which works pretty well. Though the face unlock is a bit slow on Zenfone 5Z. It’s not as fast as we see on Oneplus 6.
Asus Zenfone 5Z Review: Battery
It has a 3,300mAh battery but still, it lasts long, even after extensive gaming, and camera use I get almost a day with a full charge, the charging speed is not like what we see on Oneplus devices, but it’s significantly fast.
The AI charging is also nice it calculates the time that we sleep and then it charges the phone gradually.
