This film was released at the time of the 1993 Mumbai blast in the Plaza cinema.

Shaheed is a masterpiece by Manoj Kumar that was based on the life of Bhagat Singh. The film was full of cult songs like “Ai Vatan Ai Vatan Hamko Teri Kasam” and “Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna”.

Manoj Kumar, Kamini Kaushal, Pran, Iftekhar, Nirupa Roy, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri and Anwar Hussain played lead roles in the film.

The movie was released during the period of the Indo-Pak war and won the presidential award for its content. Bhagat Singh’s mother was also moved from the film.
