The components used in liquid cooling in phones:
There are many components involved in excellent heat dissipation in smartphones. The most important one is the copper heat pipe. It contains the liquid that carries the heat and settles it on the cooler side. The fluid can be different in different phones but the common liquid cooling fluid is deionized water, glycol/water solutions, and dielectric fluids, etc.
How liquid cooling system works in phones?
The entire liquid cooling system works in a few layers. The one above the processor, there is a layer of carbon fiber that functions as an excellent heat transfer plate. Then below a thin piece of copper. Above this, there is another type of unspecified thermal transfer material is used; we can consider this to be a silicone material, and then the copper thermal heat pipe. Then there is a thermal spreader above the pipe.
Why is liquid cooling needed?
Basically, it is not necessary to give the best performance without sweating, if your smartphone runs like a beast it needs cooling too.
To maintain the resistance of the components on the standard levels this liquid cooling tech is added to the flagship smartphones. Smartphones such as Galaxy Note 9, POCO F1, etc. comes with liquid cooling technology.
Throttling: An Alternative of Liquid Cooling:
If your smartphone does not come with liquid cooling tech, then it must have that restricted processor of the same name such as strict snapdragon 660 in Realme 2 Pro. It restricts the device performance to a level where it does not heat that much. It avoids the rise of the high temperature in the smartphone and which slowdowns the processor too.
If your smartphone’s chipset can clock to 2.4GHz, then it will throttle down at 2.0 to avoid the excessive heat inside the phone’s body.
Air Cooling: Another Alternative of Liquid Cooling:
It is one of the most commonly used techs for every range of smartphones. The liquid cooling mostly comes with high-end smartphones only. It is used to avoid the overheating of the smartphones.
A metal plate is placed with the contact of the CPU surface. It absorbs the heat from the CPU and transfers it to the upper part of the body which basically makes the phone warm but saves the CPU on the same place. That’s the reason mid-range phones gets heat up very quickly in intense gaming.
